About Me
Hello! My name is Danella (a.k.a Nella) Durieux. I am obsessed with all things healing and spend lots of time reading, listening to podcasts and taking courses to learn the most effective ways to heal and grow. Professionally, I am a Somatic Practitioner and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) who solely practices Craniosacral Therapy, specializing in nervous system regulation and trauma integration. I also hold a certification as an Organic Intelligence® Coach which comprised of a rigorous year long training on post-trauma growth. I have since completed the two year, advanced OI HEART™ Coach program and plan to continue my education through to OI Growth Expert.
Danella Durieux
Being raised in a family of nurses, healing and caring for others has always been a focus in my life. When I was 16, I began massaging friends and family for fun which continued into college and spiraled into people waiting in line for their turn and working on the rugby team. Eventually I realized, with my mom's guidance,
that I could get paid to do what I love, which at the heart of it is connecting
deeply with others through touch and presence.
Being a practitioner means a great deal to me and my style is very influenced by my experience being a client to over 50+ practitioners and 20+ modalities. As a client, there were times when I felt so seen and held in present attention and there were times when I felt hurt, alone, confused and afraid. I began to notice that the way I was treated, regardless of the modality being used, really had an impact on my quality of life for better or worse. Hundred's of experiences being a client have led me to believe that how the role of practitioner is embodied can be as pivotal to a client’s healing as the modality they are using. For this reason, I spend a lot of my time working on myself and adhering to daily routines that help me improve my ability to be attuned and fully present with my clients.
As someone who has been living with and healing from chronic illness for almost a decade, I am no stranger to struggle and pain, as well as the magic of being alive! Spending hours alone in bed with only the capacity to be was an initiation into wisdom I was not expecting in this life and gave me plenty of opportunities to experiment with and practice a variety of tools. It is such a gift for me to be able to share what I have learned in the last decade with my clients, as well as the modalities that have profoundly impacted me.
As a person and practitioner, I am vastly curious, extremely passionate, grounded and present with a splash of eccentricity just to keep it interesting! When I am not immersed in my studies and practice, I love walking with my dogs, singing in community, practicing Tai Chi and spending time with friends.
